Nitin Sangwan, an IAS officer, took to Twitter and shared his old Class 12 CBSE mark sheet from 2002 when he had scored just 24/70 as compared to his passing marks in Chemistry. It became national news and so many newspapers published this news with the headline like ‘I got 24 marks in Chemistry’: this IAS officer’s board sheet marks to prove ‘the result is more than the life of the board’ Shares.
The post soon went viral on social media platforms in India and people started discussing the uselessness of academic performance to achieve success in life.
This type of news is always more popular because there are always many more bad performers in society than good performers.
In context of Nitin SANGWAN i feel rather than focusing on USELESSNESS OF MARKS IN LIFE, we have to understand that HOW the person with such a low marks in 12th able to complete MBA from IIT MADRAS then cracking the UPSC three times in a row (2013,2014,2015)
Isn’t it make curious/inspire for average student having same goal ?
According to we the backbenchers is the person who,
hence he/she ended up with poor marks.
Isn’t it a great CHANGE ?
Some people’s concluding that, “The backbenches rarely achieve success in life. Most backbenches lead ordinary and middle class lives.” But u can also APPRECIATE the CHANGE they made to achieve success.
i would like to say, Even the school/college toppers didn’t make that much great in their life & also Many of them leading ordinary & middle class lives.
There are many bureaucrats who are CORRUPT & caught while taking bribe as well they used to be academically TOPPERS in there school and college life. But our media don’t find it interesting to share their marksheet in order to encourage the Importance of VALUES of the person rather than MARKS. Its because we have more poor perspective than good perspective.
We must understand its not about frontbenchers or the backbenchers or toppers or failures. It’s about are we able to figure out things in life.
Imagine another IAS topper published his mark sheet in his Twitter account and showed that he got 80-95% marks in the board examination..
Do you think such a tweet will ever be viral and popular?
The answer is NO.
This is because almost all IAS toppers consistently perform better in their academic careers and have generally been front-benchers.
However, some paranormal people come from the backbench by Kinnar Bhagya or because they later develop an interest in the study and make up for the lack of it in their earlier times. They make news only because they are rare and therefore extraordinary.
It is said in the media, “When a dog bites a man, it is not news, as it often is. But if a man bites a dog, it is news.”
However, you have to be silly to believe that man bites dogs more because it is more discussed in popular media.
There is rarely a breakthrough in life.
Most backbenchers lead ordinary and middle class lives.
However, some backbenches choose to achieve success in life by breaking all legal and moral barriers. They either end up behind bars or become top politicians or businessmen in their country.
Some pioneers also succeed in following a path. But they are exceptions and do not prove the exception rule.
